Sr. Manager, Production - Test and Final Process

Job Functions (Essential)

  1. Manage and coordinate production activities within test and final process and support engineering, procurement, maintenance, and quality control to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment

  2. Confer with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and costs controls, and obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications and delivery dates of engines ordered

  3. Drive the daily continuous improvement (CI) process in production by coaching teams and team members to take initiative to solve problems and improve his or her job. Apply the MTU Production System (MPS) priciples as well as the LEAN Methodology. Utilize all available, structured problem solving tools

  4. Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine deviations from standards, causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems

  5. Consult with manufacturing, industrial and quality engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and the quality of our products

  6. Manage new engine build programs as needed in test and final process and keep management abreast of pending problems

  7. Recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, provide training and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence, discharge staff, and resolve personnel grievances

  8. Manage and confer with supervisors to coordinate the activities of hourly, non-exempt, employees engaged in the production or processing of heavy duty diesel engines, specifically in test and final process production areas

  9. Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints

  10. Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety and environmental regulations

  11. Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility, and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct and the High-Performance Culture (HPC)

  12. Perform special projects as required

  13. Implement and continuously improve our processes and embed them in our management system and then triO.

Qualifications:

Qualifications (Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  1. Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering and 5 years of production leadership experience in a highly complex, heavy duty manufacturing environment; or 9 years of production leadership experience in a highly complex, heavy duty manufacturing environment
  2. 5 years working experience within a Lean Production System
  3. Proven Leadership and management skills
  4. Experience in a leading role in an implementation of a Lean Production System inclunding problem solving tools
  5. Excellent knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods
  6. Excellent knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  7. Excellent organizational, planning and follow-up skills
  8. Excellent coaching skills and the ability to motivate others
  9. Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
  10. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others
  11. Must be available to work all shifts and/or flexible hours.
  12. Proficient with PC, controlled systems and MS Office Suite
Preferred:
  1. Knowledge of MTU/RR products, policies and procedures
  2. Experience in low volume, high veriaty production
  3. Knowledge of heavy duty diesel engine assembly or automotive engine assembly

Daily work is performed in an office and general manufacturing environment. This position has a work schedule that requires four (4) ten (10) hour days during a Monday through Thursday work schedule, as business requires. Overtime work, more than 40 hours is expected also as business requires to manage test and final process.
While performing duties of this position, the employee is regularly requested to sit, and regularly requested to activate a keyboard or mouse within the work environment.
