Pay Rate: $100,000 per year

Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

As a Glass Scientist, your primary objective is to deeply engage with fiberglass manufacturing processes and contribute significantly to technological advancements in this field. Leveraging your science and engineering expertise, you will collaborate with existing processes to maintain leadership in high-performance glass fiber production. This role reports directly to the Manager of the Materials Technology Group, with oversight from the Executive Vice President of Product Technology.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Material Technology on glass-related projects and initiatives
  • Apply science and engineering principles to enhance glass technology efforts in operations and new business development
  • Generate innovative ideas and products to drive business growth
  • Conduct physical and mechanical property testing
  • Utilize microscopy and mathematical modeling for glass composition analysis
  • Support operations with XRF chemistry analysis and equipment maintenance
  • Assist in managing the Chemical Safety Regulatory Compliance Program
  • Contribute to expanding and maintaining the Intellectual Property portfolio
  • Support Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts
Qualifications for this role include a Bachelor's degree in Material Science (with a focus on Glass or Ceramics), Chemical Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment is required, with preference given to candidates with prior experience in glass manufacturing. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
